We Did It! The King William Inn To Re-Open

Goodness me, everyone! What a couple of days it has been!
THE KING WILLIAM WILL RE-OPEN!
This will be, as hoped, on 1st July - and it will be a place that YOU, our supporters have created!
On Friday 29th May, we were confident that you would take us well beyond the minimum target, but we have been overwhelmed by the response from the people of the Polden Hills!
The surge of investments and donations (several of them very large and paid direct to the CBS bank account) has gone way beyond our expectations!
At the time of writing, the fund stands at…£54,628!
This is a truly phenomenal and unexpected result, breaking through our wished-for target of £50,000!
Over 200 of you (including some local businesses) have given to the fund over the last four weeks, several of you two or more times.
Every single gift is invaluable to this cause and you may like to know that individual amounts range from £5 to £5,000 (one couple gave a staggering total of £7,000).
Others have donated equipment – log burners, white goods for the flats, loan of an industrial floor polisher and so on – and a lady with a van offered us her wheels and time – all incredibly valuable!
This outcome means that we can kit out the bars and dining area in the way we had hoped, and, above all, go into operations on 1 July with confidence and without worrying about paying the bills. Thank you very much!
But this is not just about the money, essential though that is. This is about the Community enabling and creating a true Community venture – your support gives us immense confidence for the future.
So, what happens next? Well, June is going to be a busy month!

We'll start recruiting our paid staff this week – we hope to recruit keen local youngsters and will tell you how our plans
We'll start taking table bookings shortly – we will tell you when and how, later this week
